Our neighbours and friends from La Paz are one of our great inspirations, so it is only natural that at the last Ideal & Co’s photo shoot the Portuguese brand’s clothing was the complement to our bags and backpacks.
Inspired by the sea and the typical fishermen’s clothing, the founders and designers of the brand, André Bastos Teixeira and José Miguel Abreu, took the best of the Portuguese textile tradition and made a collection full of classics with a contemporary twist. With a timeless design, using locally made fabrics and helping to preserve the activity of small factories in Portugal, La Paz has many points in common with Ideal & Co, being one of the greatest symbols of the revival of a proud Portuguese aesthetic.
“We wanted to be a brand about the Atlantic, not just reach for the easy surf, beach-brand look. After all, here in Porto we get harsh winters. When you come here (the Espinho beach) in January there’s nobody but you and the fishermen. It can be silent for hours – it cleanses you.” André Bastos Teixeira in Monocle, issue 107.
